Proper use of Vital Term is a quick way to narrow down a number of carriers and products to the right one for a certain situation. Vital Term rate classes have been assigned to show the best possible and/or most likely rates based on the specifications entered - this is not an exact science. Once rates look like they may work, we highly recommend the producer get an actual carrier illustration. "Off by a class" or "slightly lower or higher rates in reality" issues will always be there - unless the producer takes the time to get an NAIC approved or carrier approved product illustration before making a presentation to his/her client. Producers should never sell from a Vital Term Survey Spread Sheet. Vital UL is a universal life rate spreadsheet program you can use to quickly identify the most competitive products (from the carriers participating in the program) for your clients looking at permanent coverage. Vital UL is to be used for rate comparison purposes only – a complete illustration must be run using the specific carriers’ software program or Winflex web, and is always required with any UL application submission.
